The Risk of Injury in Strength Training
I think the consensus now is that training isn't dangerous for growth. As long as it's supervised and by trained or practitioners who know basic training principles of progression. The risk is more an injury, a chronic or an acute injury than it is a stunting of growth. I don't think children should be necessarily always training or competing with pain. It might be different types of pain. If you're a rugby player, maybe collision pain is something you have to deal with. But you know it's probably something that's not going to cause problems down the line.
