The Intergroup Contact Hypothesis
ISIS started taking over large swaths of territory in Northern Iraq and Syria. Part of that campaign involved the ethnic cleansing of religious minorities. Samma Musa wanted to see if there was something they could do as researchers which would improve the situation. Football seemed like the perfect fit because she is a huge football fan herself. It also worked perfectly to test a theory in psychology called the intergroup contact hypothesis.
