The Supreme Court's Power to Invalidate Acts of Congress
Supreme Court doesn't get to pass judgment on the wisdom of various pieces of legislation. That's not the Supreme Court's job as it's come to be understood. The Supreme Court interprets law in light of the Constitution. If a piece of legislation is found to be unconstitutional, the court can declare it so and therefore that legislation becomes void.
