The Hero's Journey
The hero's journey was popularized by Joseph Campbell in a 1949 book called the hero with a thousand faces and no buts. The concept is very complicated and weirdly a rigid structure that you know he claims stories all stories fit into, so it doesn't really make sense. A textbook example is Frodo in Lord of the Rings as you kind of alluded to although he doesn't really return to the ordinary world at the end yeahThat's right I mean his his reward or his boon is that he now gets to go into the West with the elves.
