"I grew up in a show business family and I always felt I was an outsider in my own culture," she says. "The only thing that stuck out about me is I had a weird name, but then people just made fun of it." Her parents moved from Iran to the U.S. when her son was nearly three years old. She still speaks Farsi with her family and with her son.
