The Idea of Intense Knowledge

Plato believed that all our knowledge was a kind of recollection, which kind of implies that it's preconscious and brought to consciousness. These days we believe in a post alwinian world where instincts are programmed in by the genes - but they don't exist in conscious thoughts or anything of that kind. So you need to have a notion of knowledge, which is like memory in being unconscious, but isn't acturally a memory.
