The Ethics of Epicurus

Epicurus claims that when I am no longer in pain, that will in itself constitute the greatest possible pleasure. He distinguished we are told between two kinds of pleasure-kinetic and static. This is a brilliant move on Epicurus' part but at worst it's wildly implausible. The ideal Epicurean life would be one of isolated moderation with little contact with others.
