John's Gospel Is a Big Bold Statement for the Early Church

John's gospel has material that's over 90% exclusive to John. He was picking up recollections and details that he thinks need to be preserved. Jesus answers the last big remaining question about what kind of authority he actually wields. It looks like John was trying to provide some grand fatherly guidance through the words of Christ.
