The Dangers of Hanson's Disease
In 2020, there were 159 cases of Hanson's disease in the United States. This is caused by a bacteria that can cause damage to the skin, eyes, nose and peripheral nervous system. Since 2011, at least 30% of the Hanson's cases reported in Florida each year have been reported in Brevard County. For context, Brevard County accounts for less than 3% of the total population in Florida.
