Cicero uses negative tactics to denegrate his opponents. He accuses them of being violent, spendthrifts and having lax sex lives. They might have lots of money, or come from moneyed backgrounds, but they're not very good at preserving the state's finances. In one case in particular, he says that they're torturers and murderers.
