Is Product Management Really Important in Venture-Backed Product Startups?

Bright Context was a big data analytics company, streaming data, high-speed analytics. We were acquired by another big data company called WealthEngine. I assumed the position of heading up product, and my co-founder was the CTO business. My background is being somewhat technical and having product management background as well as a bunch of founder background really was aligned with what the Datatribe guys were looking for.
