William randolph hurst was a newspaper mogul and richer than god. His family kind of mismanaged his estate, so by 19 27, all the property he had owned had just dwindled away. Hurst decided that he was going to build what became the largest private zoo in america. That included zebras, that included a california grizzly bear. And he also imported these little white deer over from europe.
