Hutchings and the State Geological Survey
Hutchings magazine and the art he commissioned had driven the visitors to yosemite in the first place. Hutchings was well connected and sacramento, and now he began leveraging those ties for a political fight. Galen clark could see that the legislature intended to allow hutchings to continue his private development. But the park guardian was determined to protect yosemite, even from its own operators.
