How Did You End Up as a Bond Trader?

I did not want to go into the family business. When I graduated from undergrad, I was just really fascinated with Wall Street. And so shortly after starting on that desk, I got pulled on to one of the government bond trading desks. After doing that for a few years, had a good run doing that, I looked around the trading floor and there were not too many older people there. There were a lot of stressed out younger people. So I couldn't have gotten another job very easily other than another trading job. That's when I went to Columbia where I learned about venture capital and private equity.
