Last summer in Margay, a landlord was convicted for using violent theft and vandalism to illegally evict a tenant. It took 10 years for them to investigate and prosecute this landlord. We talk about crime being legal because shoplifting, like there's this constant like refrain in the right-wing press, right? Crime is legal because the police aren't prosecuting shoplifters anymore. Society has gone to the dogs. This is who crime is legal for. There is this huge opportunity to reimagine what housing is and how it's provided, that is just being squandered at the same time.
