The Motives of Phishing Cures

In the past couple of days, we've seen a lot of information around phony cures. And some of it is not harmful such as one post that said gargling with salt water will cure you of the coronavirus. The motives of some of these people are difficult to discern. Some seem to be pranksters, some seem to be just well-intentioned but misinformed people. Other people have some kind of monetization motive where they're trying to get people to click. Then there's politics and then finally, I would add the whole idea that other governments are trying to seed misinformation in the United States.
