The world's largest hummingbird is a giant hummingbird from the andes in south america it weighs in at a colossal 18 to 24 grams which is just under an ounce. Like most hummingbirds it gets most of those calories from nectar according to national park service if a person had the metabolism of a hummingbird holy cow would have to eat 285 pounds or 129 kilos of protein each daywhich is about 320 000 calories per day.
