'Oh Dear, I've Made a Terrible Fap'
A gaff is an unintentional remark causing embarrassment to the speaker. It's not a term americans use very much, which seems to be a shame because it sounds rather elegant. But you know, during the good old days of watergate, the white house press secretary was constantly having to say, the president misspoke himself. This struck me as as a terribly awkward coinage and made it sond as though the president had just wet himself. One way or the other, he had the the phopite's not the same as a proidian slip, is it?
