The demise of the standard hypothesis is a good demonstration of how our understanding of the brain is constantly evolving. It suggests that there is a specialized system for emotion in the brain. There are many parts of the brain that are incredibly important for emotion-related processing. So we're back to the idea that we need to let go of these separate islands of specialization in the brain, and we need to think more at this distributed way.
