There was a lot of hanky-panky going around to the Japanese corporate space back then. The bank of Japan cut interest rates significantly to spur domestic growth. When finally in late 1989, the bank of Japan started to raise interest rates and everything collapsed. So what's changing now? Well, it's not really an overnight change if you're being honest.
