The Legacy of Score-Selling in Iraq
Many of the officials I work with in Iraq including a bastard Bremer focusing on that first year after the war was we completely underestimated the Legacy of three plus decades of communal repression. It's almost easy to say All right, we're gonna behead the regime. We're gonna get rid of Saddam and Uday and Cusse and you know tens of millions of people are gonna be free. But it's just you don't fully appreciate the the depth and breadth of of Score-settling that has to play out not that you wanted to play it.
