The History of Police in America
After about 18 70, as you get into the nineteenth, later nineteenth century, there are also important, distinct developments in america that set them more and more apart from the london example. Already at this time, there was an early militarization. In the late 18 hundreds, there was increasing drilling, loosely copying what you'd see in military units, the issuing of firearms. It became more and more common for police to officially have guns issued to them, and the creation of uniforms,. particularly blue uniforms. And these developments, including the uniforms, often provoked a lot of distrust and resistance from the public.
