How to Fuel Yourself for a Half Marathon

For a half marathon, you don't need to have loads and loads of fuel. I think the first rule of thumb is, practice with it first - which she didn't do. Jell's are giving you carbohydrate, that basically they're sugar. But also lots of them have got electrolytes in it. And there is a chance that maybe she over ate or over drank. Maybe you would do better to try something with a bit more kind of technical stuff like Jelly Babies.
