Nova is the cool new thing that people are discussing here. It's a technique called folding, which allows you to take structured computation and try and fold it into each other. The nova techniques are on the order of 10x faster than the previous proof techniques. And this folding process is much, much cheaper than snarking. So with this mechanism, there's an exponential increase in how fast we can do things like ZK roll-ups. We want to prove massive statements where we want to prove that a whole Ethereum block is valid.
