You make a pointed differentiation in the book between skill and the old, outmoded definition of what it meant to be a skilled artist. You have this wonderful conversation with linda barry where she talks about, yes, i can, quote, draw, but i choose to draw in this really sort of childlike way because it's an extension of my personality. And that really is true artistry. Like being able to render something realistically as great, but your voice really comes through and how your work is different. I'm more interested in stylizing something ideas, ideas tor making something my own.
