Introduction

A 9-year-old girl presents to the emergency department with increased frequency of seizures, dehydration, and listlessness. She has a history of global developmental delay, congenital hydrocephalus with the VP Shuntin place; last revision of her shunt was three rears prior. On day of admission, she had multiple prolonged seizures that were also generalized tonic clonic in semiology. Her serum sodium on her RFP was undetectable at a value of greater than 200 milliquivalence per liter. Other notable findings included an elevated creatinine for age, an elevated BUN, and a microcytic anemia.
