The Golden Age of Egyptology
Howard carter was one of the finest archaeologists of his generation. He had been working in the valley of the kings since the early twentieth century under a variety of different patrons, and perhaps knew that sight better than anybody else at the time. The late 1800s is sometimes called the golden age of egyptology. It was an era when archaeology was funded by museums and vate patrons,. where really the quality of the work very much depended upon who the patron engaged as their leade archaeologist.
