The Rise and Fall of Courtroom Art

In the 1970s, different state courts began experimenting with broadcast coverage of judicial proceedings. Media advocates also believed that televising trials offered a great educational resource for people who couldn't physically be in a courtroom but wanted to learn more about the legal system. By 1991, there was a whole television network dedicated to it called Court TV. Huge high profile cases like the Menendez brothers and Jeffrey Dahmer were all aired gavel to gavel on television.
