The Importance of Punch Cards in the History of Computing

Punch card operation was absolutely vital at Blatsey Park and yet nobody seems to be particularly interested in it I think it's probably because sexy machines like the bomb and Colossus which were modern innovations purpose built for code breaking of sort of captured the imagination. IBM machinery could have been used by any business and therefore sort of what's special about it I think that's the reason but apparently there were seven tons so that's one truckload of punch cards being delivered to Blatsey park every week to help them with their processing.
