The Poverty of the Stimulus

The footprint of memory for these large language models is hundreds of gigabytes. Humans and animals in general have some algorithms very, very different than deep learning that allow them to lever up from much, much, much smaller levels of examples. The amount of stimulus they get is nowhere near what they use to train chess playing program or something. And yet the kid learns all kinds of stuff.
