The Colorblind Racism Theory
Racism is an idea that justifies or legitimates racial inequality. If you say black people are more criminal and that's why they're behind bars, it doesn't need to be reformed. By not naming it, it allows those injustices to continue without being recognized or challenged. And so again that relates directly to the theme of the book which is that when we unmask racism, right when we reveal racism, that we are better able to show it and to demonstrate how it works. The change can only come after we name the problem.
