The Importance of Virtue in Politics
A return to virtue is helpful. It doesn't demand a view that you be naive. We can actually create communities or we can create environments in which virtuous people who might think differently about matters are able to engage each other, says Father Gregory. If you despair of certain ideals, your humanity ends up withering and desiccating. And so I think it's worthwhile to hold them in mind and heart, even if you feel like you're fighting a long defeat to quote Justice Sotomayor.
