Icynich and the Revolt of Buddhica
Buddhica's ability to unify the tribe of the Icynich behind her, but also the Trenovantes, this was unheard of. Kingdom and household alike were plundered like prizes of war. As a beginning, his widow, Buddhica, was flogged and their daughters raped. The Icynian chiefs were deprived of their hereditary estates as if the Romans had been given the whole country. Deocacius says it is due to debt burden that emerges when a province has been newly acquired.
