Chaucer Ah - What's So Central to English Literature?

Chaucer wrote in English, which was not done before. He popularized the idea that you would write in your vernacular like dante did with italiano. His works were startlingly realistic depictions of people from all classes of life at the time. And so having having all of these, all o this information is just kind of neat a to get a little bit into like his process, or what's important to him, or how he created his works to make them magic.
