The Importance of Ungrading
In peer assessment, students learn not to be passive receptors of authoritarian judgments and information. In understanding what we're really seeking and why we're seeking it, they come to see the grade as less material. By understanding the smoke, we can understand the fire that creates it. And they start to focus on the work that needs to be done.
