The Problem With HIV Discordant Couples

Catholic doctrine says that if the aim isn't procreation it must be okay on occasion to use a condom. The church condones what was used to be called the rhythm method, which uses condoms in place of traditional birth control methods such as morning-after pills and IUDs. A Catholic couple who is knowingly infertile or HIV discordant are not thwarting procreation because they weren't going to procreate in any case. When a couple decides to using a condom with the aim not to infect each other they are toward procreation so there's a difference here.
