Epileptogenic and Symptomatogenic Zones in Seizures

The symptomatogenic zone is the area of the cortex, which when activated by a pleptiform discharge produces the initial ictal symptoms. It's not necessarily the same as the epileptogenic zone, but it's usually very closely linked with it. And that's really what we're interested in when we're localizing seizures and offering a patient a reception because we want to give them the maximal chance of seizure freedom. That's fantastic.
