How Does the New Testament Relate to the Old Testament?

The new testament is the fulfilment of the entire old testament. It's a huge story, and yet every little piece of it holds ther perfectly. What are the three most important themes that we should be watching for when we read our bibles? I would say kingship, a sacrifice, which would also be the suffering servant theme in isaiah, and maybe a the presence of god with his people.
