Moby Dick is rightly viewed as a stunning example of romanticism bright vivid wild full of imagination in the running for the great American novel. DH Lawrence did not really like Melville and found him to be a tiresome newing lender Allah Emerson long fellow in Hawthorne but he nevertheless found Moby Dick to be an incredible book quote. The end of Melville's life does not seem all that happy his son shot himself in the face at the age of 18 perhaps accidentally and perhaps not Herman struggled for money and friends and family members advanced in money Apparently he was the only honest man working in customs in New York at the time and he nearly lost his job without Melville ever knowing Arthur admired
