The National Institute of Standards and Technology said that participation in its assessment is not a seal of approval. The Intelligence Advanced Research Projects Activity says awards do not signal government endorsement. A Vision Labs executive told me he wasn't aware of the company's technology being used in other ways, other than the two ways that I described.
