authoritarian leadership is a leader who commands arbitrarily and the far under threat of punishment. This kind of discipline secures obedience, but not achievement for it is based on fear, not loyalty. The Germans do not use it in their armed forces. They expect leaders to encourage soldiers to participate in solving problems. And there is increasing evidence that it works in the army and Navy too.
