The longest natural gas pipeline in the world is Brazil's National Unification Gas Pipeline, Gazun. McKinsey and the Hydrogen Council predict 40 hydrogen trade routes connecting the globe. None of the longer trade routes are likely to carry a single cubic metre of gaseous hydrogen. A few companies proposing to carry compressed hydrogen by ship would expose them to same problems as liquefaction.
