There was this idea that the catacombs are going to be this bridge between the past the present in the future. It's a great metaphor even if they're not technically supporting the city it looks like they are right and aren't we all supported sort of by by the past and what came before us in some way? My next project is about female daredevils and prepare shootists in the early 19th century so I'm sure that we'll meet with the same kind of critique but I welcome it.

Alie tracked down Dr. Erin-Marie Legacey – author of “Making Space for the Dead,” professor of French history and one of the world’s foremost experts on this eerie place.
