Is Signalling the Primary Driver?

High school and college evolved after a world war one and during the cold war. A lot of people right now, pretty obviously, just go to college outof conformity. That's what everybody else is doing. I think that signalling is a good explanation for why employers continue to pay a premium. But deep views in the culture about what education gives you have more to do with your moral character than anything else.
