The Importance of Symmetry
Nick Drayton in Wakefield asks if symmetry really exists, except as a concept within our minds. Can your panel of scientific experts point to any physical object that is truly symmetrical from a pristine sheet of A4 printed paper? Andrew: The one candidate I can think of for you that really is perfectly symmetrical as far as we can tell so far is actually the Higgs boson. Helen: It's very rarely seen a completely clean bubble. Things tend to stick to them, and what sticks to them isn't necessarily symmetrical.
