The Advantages of Russia Getting Closer to North Korea
Nicolaus Mills: There's advantages for both North Korea and Russia in terms of, first of all, a transactional relationship. He says they're desperately looking for weapons wherever they can find them. It gives Kim Jong-un status with his domestic audience at a time where there is great suffering among the North Korean population he adds. Miles: For Moscow it's a chance to give the U.S. a poke in the eye so to speak over Washington's efforts to try and denuclearize the Korean Peninsula.
