What Is It That Wilde Was Trying to Do With Consumer Modernism?
Oscar Wilde was a practitioner of this idea you call consumer modernism. In the play, an ideal husband, there's a female character named Mrs. Chevelie. She says that in her conversation with Sir Robert, just before she blackmails them, they're talking and paraphrasing him. He is right with these ideas where just like Nietzsche was, just like Freud was. So he's right with them, but he's bringing it into the world of fashion.
