The Importance of Human Rights

In the book i try to emphasize in the book that we're looking at these things so we think democracy is good but that's partially because we're weird. In my field work i one time was discussing the voting the fact that each person gets one vote and a grandfather said to me you know why should my vote count the same as a 18 year old guy right? So there's lots of people would say that  the west hasn't been like other parts of the world. I kind of say well look you can emphasize the bad sideyou can emphasize the good side but this is still a question that needs to be explained.
