Tupac's violent reputation was helped along by a murder committed on April the 11th, 1992 in Etna, Texas. Ronald Ray Howard, a drug dealer driving a stolen car, was pulled over by much-loved local cop and president of the Little League, Bill Davidson. When Howard was pulled over, he was playing Tupac Ellipse now, Chico's first album. His defense lawyer claimed that it was the violent lyrics on the record that propelled Howard to shoot Officer Bill Davidson. This piss-poor defense didn't work, Howard got the death penalty. But it did mean that Tupac was now firmly associated with the gangster rappers ruining our children and killing police
