Kubrick's Optimism Is Transhumanist
I think there are cases perhaps where a filmmaker or another artist is mostly unwitting and mostly unconscious of their being useful. There really was something about Dick's work that was deemed compatible with a transhumanist drive, unfortunately for Dick. And he just, he kind of tapped into the zeitgeist in such a way that later his work was able to be co-opted. But with Kubrick the evidence suggests that he was very much a conscious, witty player and that he was deeply involved in trying to change the world.
